Why More Heat Isn't Always the Answer
When an outdoor space feels cold, the first instinct is often to add another heater or roll-down screen.
More heat should create more comfort.
It's a logical assumption.
But in many outdoor environments, the biggest challenge isn't producing more heat or adding a screen buffer.
It's preventing that heat from being carried away by constantly moving air.
The Real Challenge Is Air Movement
Every major outdoor heater manufacturer acknowledges the same challenge:
→ Wind significantly reduces heating effectiveness.
As warm air continually escapes and cooler air replaces it, heaters must work harder to maintain a comfortable environment.
The result can be:
🔸 Increased energy consumption
🔸 Less consistent temperatures
🔸 Reduced guest comfort
🔸 Higher operating costs
Simply adding more heaters often treats the symptom, not the cause.
Environmental Control Changes Everything
True outdoor comfort isn't created by producing more heat.
It's created by reducing the factors that make heat difficult to maintain.
By limiting wind and uncontrolled air movement, an operable glass enclosure helps create a more stable environment where existing heating systems can perform more effectively.
The result is:
✅ More consistent comfort
✅ Better heater efficiency
✅ Unspoiled Views
✅ Lower energy consumption
✅ Greater guest satisfaction
✅ Outdoor spaces that remain enjoyable for longer throughout the year
Comfort Isn't About More Heat or Screens That Do A Modest Improvement and Limit Views
It's About Better Control
—
For hospitality operators, this means creating a patio that guests can enjoy with greater confidence, even as temperatures begin to change.
For homeowners, it means spending more time outdoors without constantly adjusting heaters or planning around the weather.
When customers understand that environmental control, not simply additional heat, is what creates lasting comfort, the conversation naturally shifts from adding equipment to improving how the entire outdoor space performs.
How Slide Clear Supports Outdoor Comfort
At Slide Clear, we believe outdoor comfort begins with creating environments that perform consistently, not simply generating more heat.
That's why we design systems that help reduce wind intrusion, improve environmental control, and create outdoor spaces that remain comfortable, reliable, and enjoyable throughout more of the year.
By helping dealers shift the conversation from heating equipment to environmental performance, we empower customers to make more informed decisions about how they'll experience their outdoor spaces for years to come.
